The Van Laack Men story

In 1881, Heinrich van Laack had a simple ambition: to make the most luxurious shirt. And he succeeded. Artson has a soft spot for such ambitions!

Van Laack history. The roaring twenties helped him along. Those golden years brought a distinctive sense of elegance. The cultivated gentleman emerged, and van Laack developed into one of the first established brands in fashion history.

Heinrich Van Laack also invented the three-hole button. In the 1930s, finishing details were added that still define the van Laack touch today.

Van Laack expansion. After 1950, the brand name and production changed hands several times, eventually moving to Mönchengladbach. This marked the beginning of international growth. The first womenswear line was launched in 1970.

By 2005, van Laack was represented in 50 countries through its own flagship stores, partner stores and partner corners. Its 125th anniversary was celebrated in 2006 with the opening of a production and distribution centre in Asia. The USA followed shortly afterwards with a van Laack store on Madison Avenue in New York. In Australia, the Herringbone and Rhodes&Beckett brands were acquired.

Despite its expansion and worldwide network, van Laack aims to offer the most personal service possible. In a few steps, its “Made for me” label lets you create a personalised shirt with a choice of 100 fabrics, different styles and finishes. The “Perfect Look” finish keeps your shirt looking as smooth at the end of the day as in the morning. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to keep ironing to a minimum!
